08 Jul From Intention to Impact: Building AI Literacies for the Work You Lead (A Session for D2L Fusion 2026)
RESOURCES
How might communities move from fear and confusion about AI to intentional action aligned with values and impact?
Overview
AI is changing what people need to know to do their work well, and the pace is leaving many in fear or confusion. Inside that uncertainty, AI literacies offer a way forward, helping communities move from fear and confusion to intentional action aligned with values and impact.
Presented at D2L Fusion 2026 in Phoenix, Arizona, this session brought the AI Literacies in Practice conversation to a live audience at the request of the community that gathered across the webinar series. Dr. Angela Gunder hosted Dr. Melissa Vito and Dr. Marcela Ramirez of UT San Antonio for two explorations of two constellations of AI literacies at a single institution. The first explored cultural and civic AI literacies through the Student AI Project, where students read the culture of their campus and community and turned that understanding into service. The second explored creative and confident AI literacies through the academic transformation work that invites faculty, staff, and students to approach AI as an opportunity rather than a challenge to react to. Together with the participants in the room, the presenters mapped a shared constellation of AI literacies in use and in development across contexts, from higher education to workforce learning to K-12 and public policy.
