WORKSHOP
How does collaborative remix help educators build culturally relevant, inclusive, and innovative learning communities?
Remixing is not just about content. This workshop builds upon culturally affirming curriculum design by exploring collaborative remix as an innovative, inclusive educational practice. This live and engaging session held in Zoom is offered for free for educators at HBCUs and their allies through a grant from The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation that is led by Tennessee State University.

About the Workshop
This workshop builds upon culturally affirming curriculum design by exploring collaborative remix as an innovative, inclusive educational practice. Participants will explore remix as a collective process inspired by hip-hop scholarship, where educators and learners co-create meaningful, culturally resonant learning experiences. Participants will engage actively to remix and redesign curriculum collaboratively, enhancing relevance and resonance for diverse student communities. At the conclusion of the webinar, participants will be able to:
- Articulate remix as a collaborative, community-building practice, moving beyond just content adaptation.
- Identify principles and approaches from hip-hop scholarship as an example of culturally resonant remixing.
- Collaboratively remix curriculum components to reflect and affirm the cultural identities of their student communities.
Participation at the live session is encouraged, but all registered attendees can also watch back live content asynchronously. Additionally, at the conclusion of the webinar, participants will gain access to a series of open learning modules built in D2L Brightspace.
