AI Literacies for Open Educators—A Webinar for Open Ed Week (March 7, 2025)

About the Webinar

Artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming education, bringing both opportunities and challenges for open educators. This interactive workshop, hosted by Dr. Doug Belshaw and Dr. Angela Gunder, explores a plurality of AI literacies for understanding and applying AI within open education.

Drawing from the recently-published paper for MIT Open Learning, AI Literacies and the Advancement of Opened Culture: Global Perspectives and Practices, the session provides a structured introduction to AI literacies. The hosts guide participants through a discussion around the ethical, technical, and pedagogical implications for open educators using generative AI.

Dr. Genevieve Smith-Nunes and Dr. Nicola Pallitt then joined in on the conversation to discuss the application of AI literacies in open praxis.

Viewers of the webinar are encouraged to participate in this initiative by sharing examples of AI literacies practices in this open access repository
