01 Jun Reflective Blog Series on AI in Higher Education—A Call for Writers
CALL FOR CONTRIBUTORS
Three ways to contribute. One way to close the research-to-practice gap on AI in education.

About the Blog Series
This initiative uses a collaborative, multimodal autoethnographic methodology to document the lived experiences of educators, researchers, and designers using AI in their professional work. Through monthly blog posts published on Opened Culture, contributors reflect on their evolving practices, tensions, breakthroughs, and positionalities in relation to AI tools. Each series draws from a shared set of research questions, reflective writing prompts, and storytelling arcs to guide contributions and surface emergent insights across time.
The series operates as both a real-time scholarly inquiry and a participatory form of knowledge production—designed to keep pace with the rapid evolution of AI in education while challenging the slowness of the traditional research-to-practice cycle. At the conclusion of each series, the collected reflections will undergo a grounded theory analysis, with findings informing future publications, funded research proposals, and open educational resources.
Why This Matters
This reflective series bridges that gap by creating a living, dynamic record of our experiences with AI tools in research and instruction. Together, we’ll document our successes, challenges, and evolving understandings in real time, offering a resource that is:
- Collaborative and Iterative: Insights will emerge as we engage with one another’s experiences.
- Timely and Transparent: Reflections will be shared openly on the Opened Culture website.
- Transformative: Contributions will inform an ethnographic analysis that leads to future publications and presentations.
Choose Your Path
Choose the option that fits your time and interest. You can choose to reflect through one of two lenses: AI and research or AI and instructional design. Not sure? Many contributors find their work sits at the intersection of both—and that’s welcome too.

What Happens After You Submit?
Your insights may be shared (with your permission) in presentations, toolkits, and publications. After the series concludes, all reflections will undergo a multimodal grounded theory analysis. The patterns and tensions we surface will shape a final scholarly output—either a publication or digital resource capturing emergent insights across higher ed roles. We’ll share drafts with you if your voice is included and ask for your input and consent before publication. You choose your credit level: full name, first name only, or anonymous.
