24 Mar Applying AI Literacies—An EDUCAUSE Learning Lab (April 2025)
WORKSHOP
Eight Dimensions for Transforming Course Design
This Learning Lab from EDUCAUSE empowers instructional designers, faculty developers, teaching and learning center staff, and educators of all experience levels to cultivate AI literacies essential for transforming teaching, course design, and assessment. Participants will explore eight key dimensions of AI literacies and apply them to develop inclusive, adaptive, and engaging learning experiences tailored to today’s diverse student needs.
Part 1 | April 14, 2025 ● 12:00 PM ET
Part 2 | April 17, 2025 ● 12:00 PM ET
Part 3 | April 21, 2025 ● 12:00 PM ET
Part 4 | April 24, 2025 ● 12:00 PM ET

About the Learning Lab
The Lab blends interactive live sessions, hands-on activities, and discussions, focused on learning through doing. Participants will work with generative AI tools in real-time to design, facilitate, and evaluate instructional modules, gaining practical skills and immediate feedback. Throughout, they’ll exchange ideas, insights, and strategies with their peers. The Lab culminates in a project where participants design an instructional module using AI tools, evaluate its effectiveness with a rubric and AI-based assessments, and collaboratively identify areas for improvement.
Note: the format of this Learning Lab lends itself well to team registrations – see the EDUCAUSE Registration Page for more information on how to register.
Outcomes
Key takeaways for participants will include:
- Apply a dimensional framework of AI literacies to effectively design, facilitate, and assess learning experiences
- Utilize generative AI tools and strategies to create engaging course content
- Evaluate the effectiveness of AI tools and practices in supporting learning outcomes
- Collaborate with colleagues to share insights and best practices for integrating AI literacies into educational practice
Participation at the live sessions is encouraged. If needed, live content is also recorded and can be viewed asynchronously. Participants will be asked to complete assignments in between the live sessions that support the learning outcomes stated above, and will receive feedback and constructive critique from facilitators.
